Dr. Ronak M. Patel Joins Hinsdale Orthopaedics

Dr. Patel is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine injuries for adolescents and adults. He offers a full range of care for disorders of the knee and shoulder as well as athletic injuries of the ankle and elbow.

With a special interest in complex knee disorders. Dr. Patel is among the few physicians in Chicago performing advanced cartilage restoration and joint preservation procedures of the knee. He treats ACL injuries, patellar dislocations, meniscus tears, multi-ligamentous knee injuries, and knee arthritis with minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. He is extensively trained in arthroscopic management of shoulder problems, such as impingement, rotator cuff tears, and labral tears.

Dr. Patel practices evidence-based sports medicine and believes it is essential to know when ‘not to operate’. His goal is to preserve the native joint as long as possible and to that end, he uses cartilage restoration, osteotomies to reduce stress on the joint, platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection therapy and other orthobiologic techniques to promote tissue healing and joint longevity.

Dr. Patel trained at Northwestern University and completed his fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, working with internationally known surgeons and building his expertise in the most innovative orthopaedic procedures.

Dr. Patel will be treating patients at our Hinsdale, Westmont, and Elmhurst locations. To make an appointment with Dr. Patel or for additional information, call (800) 929-3520.
